Brighton’s Foodilic on Western Road is one of two sister cafés right in the heart of the city. This one, more spacious than the original down the road, is a family-friendly yet chic eatery that really does offer something for everyone. Visitors are absolutely spoilt for choice, with any potential dietary needs catered for thanks to gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and raw food options, as well as more traditional meat dishes. Foodilic offers a wide selection of hot and cold foods, including cooked breakfasts and homemade raw and vegan desserts, and the takeaways are perfect for lunch on the go, a picnic on the beach or for catering at home. They cater for large events too.

I was particularly impressed by the wide range of nutritious and wholesome salads, including spinach and pine nuts, sweet potato and fig, and Chinese cabbage and couscous, all dressed and garnished to perfection. You can pick and choose a selection to accompany your main or simply enjoy them in their own right, and all are priced by weight, making them exceptionally good value for money. I had mine with a generous portion of stuffed aubergine and a glass of fresh grapefruit, carrot and ginger juice, and then followed this healthy feast with a huge slice of raw caramel cake. I left feeling satisfied, revived and full of vitamins, and determined to return as soon as possible. Foodilic is a must-visit in Brighton – I can’t recommend it highly enough.
