The young team running Isaac At makes no secret of the fact that the venture is an evolving work in progress, but they are already so good that there are no limits to what they might go on to achieve. Despite their talent and ambition, there is refreshingly little pretension, simply a love for food and exceptional dining.

This is indeed fine dining at its finest, presented in a contemporary setting that includes seats at the pass and live video feeds of the chefs at work. The relatively small room offers a unique and intimate experience; the three chefs present and explain each dish at the table while manager Alex offers the background to his carefully chosen selection of wine or juice pairings for each course. The six-course tasting menu is actually nine when you include an amuse-bouche, treacle and stout bread with onion brioche, and a final flourish of little freshly baked cakes. Highlights of our visit included pork belly cooked at 70 degrees for two days, roast chicken with salt-baked celeriac, and a delicate quince, apple and bay leaf sorbet. There is no doubt that these chefs are new culinary stars in the making, so take my advice and eat here now before you have to book a year in advance.
