If a slap-up meal is what you're after, you need look no further than Betty La La's - the sleek and stylish new restaurant and bar residing on St James' Street. Smart and contemporary, with bright, quirky furnishings, this eatery exudes a relaxed ambience as well as serving a superb menu.

The sea bass with fresh rosemary, garlic, butter and shallot sauce, served with ratatouille and Dauphinoise potatoes, is a must for seafood lovers; though it'll be a tough call once they spot the grilled salmon with asparagus and raspberry salad. Vegetarians, meanwhile, might pick grilled spicy aubergine steaks with fruity couscous salad and quince chutney dip, and for carnivores there's sirloin steak, slow-cooked lamb and a cured meat platter to share. All dishes are cooked with the utmost care, and, while many boast a delicious Mediterranean influence, there are also some good-old British classics.

Betty La La's is also popular for enjoying a simple coffee or glass of wine, and it can cater for private functions of up to 80. Saturday nights see 'The Piano Man', while on Sunday nights entertainment comes in the form of slinky jazz and blues. And by all means, pop in for breakfast, when choices like granola and Greek yoghurt with fresh fruit, and eggs Benedict with the creamiest of Hollandaise, will vie for your attention
