This lovely deli-café in Palmeira Square, close to Hove's fl oral clock and the St John the Baptist church, is in a great location for a lunchtime break or relaxed people-watching at any time of day. Owner Angie and chef Becky bake pies, tarts and cakes, and there are many vegan and vegetarian offerings. As well as salads and sandwiches, deli fare includes hot and cold picnic boxes to take away. The name of the café is inspired by Edward Lear's quirky poem, and the playful items on the menu reflect this creative inspiration with sandwiches such as The Red Zeppelin (homemade red lentil pâté with olives and rocket leaves) and Ninja Tuna (homemade tuna mayonnaise, rocket and lemon). You can even mix and match fillings, so I had Sussex Charmer cheese, plenty of bacon and caramelised onions on a baguette, and dubbed it Please Cheese Me.
