If you’re near the seafront, or indeed anywhere near Brighton, you must visit the award-winning Scoop and Crumb. People queue in the street to taste their homemade ice creams. There are always 18 flavours available, ranging from year-round favourites like Proper Chockywocky to seasonal creations such as Roasted Plum Crumble. In the colder months, children’s parties and events can be held above the café. The amazing sundaes are always popular, in particular the spectacular Die Happy Sundae: all 18 flavours of ice cream, eight sauces, three fruits, brownie topping and whipped cream. Owner Gemma loves seeing customers enjoying an indulgent treat, which also include locally made cakes, cream teas and hot chocolate. If your tooth isn’t so sweet or you’re after something more warming, opt for a hotdog made with free-range sausages and ciabatta, a toastie or soup.
