Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Their extensive menu features a range of home-cooked dishes, ranging from traditional pies, curries and steaks, to a variety of vegetarian dishes and a tempting selection of desserts. Order the half shoulder of lamb, which is cooked to perfection for four hours in herbs, red wine, garlic and stock and presented with a choice of new potatoes or hand-cut chips - it tastes all the better when you hear that produce is locally sourced where possible. Lionel and Paula strive to offer fresh and enticing dishes, complemented by a range of cask ales and an extensive wine list.
The outdoor seating area provides an excellent excuse to soak up the summer sun, a cold pint or refreshing glass of wine in hand. Located midway between Newbury and Basingstoke, one mile from the A339, the inn offers ten courtyard en-suite bedrooms, some within the converted 17th-Century barn. Beautiful surroundings make for a relaxing short or long-term stay, with tea and coffee facilities, flat-screen televisions, WiFi, and - not forgetting - delicious food, right on your doorstep.
