Peering in through the window of Tres Corazones, we noticed that nearly every table was filled – a sure sign that an excellent meal was in store. We entered to a convivial welcome, and were led to our table within the buzzing restaurant.

The menu is filled with tempting small plates, which are made to authentic Spanish recipes by the talented kitchen brigade. My partner and I chose six tapas dishes to share. Our selection included gooey goat’s cheese, baked with honey and thyme, red king prawns tossed with chilli and garlic, and grilled octopus. My partner seemed particularly taken with the chorizo that was cooked in a moreish white wine sauce, which she mopped up with fresh bread. Meanwhile, my two favourite dishes were the roasted pig with date chutney and parsnip purée, and the slow-cooked beef ribs, which were so tender the meat practically fell apart. The meal ended on a high note, with passion fruit cheesecake for my partner, and a lovely almond cake paired with clotted cream ice cream for me. Every dish was delicious, and we’ll definitely be returning with a larger group of friends, so we can sample more of the offering.

If you find yourself in the Wendover area, and fancy a top-notch meal, complete with friendly service and a lively atmosphere, head to Tres Corazones.
