The Bell Kitchen & Bar
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
For those just here for a drink, the bar area is relaxed and cosy, with plentiful newspapers and games to keep you amused. The bar serves an impressive and unique mix of bitters and lagers for those wishing to try something different from the usual brand names; and, for those dining, the menu offers detailed twists on favoured dishes, with daily changing specials enabling the kitchen team to road-test new ideas. Guests can pick from the lunchtime menu, hosting a range of tasty ciabatta, paninis and light meals. From the dinner menu, my guest enjoyed Hoegarden-battered pollock and chips with minted mushy peas and tartare sauce, while I tucked into a beautifully cooked sirloin with homemade peppercorn sauce. The quality of the local fresh produce really comes into its own with tasty, well-presented dishes of generous portions. Bearing in mind the team use locally sourced produce and cook to order, we found all dishes to be extremely good value for money.
The simple yet striking combination of fantastic food, great atmosphere and welcoming faces shows that Alan and the team have made great steps already. I look forward to seeing just how this develops further in the next six months and beyond - we'll certainly be back.
