The King’s Head
Since opening in 2013, The King’s Head in historic Wye has made a name for itself with its commitment to local produce. Scott Richardson and Mark Lightford left their respective careers in music and fashion to transform this former Victorian coaching inn into a leading foodie destination. Their efforts have paid off in the form of the numerous awards and critical acclaim this venue has received, including winning Pub of the Year in the Kent Life Food & Drink Awards 2017. Other notable achievements include coming 25th in the prestigious Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list and being a finalist in the 2019 Taste of Kent Awards.
Under head chef Carl Jordan, the kitchen team presents an innovative seasonal menu, which is accompanied by an impressive drinks selection that includes local English sparkling wine. Expect such treats as venison loin with pommes Maxim, celeriac purée and remoulade in a juniper jus. You’ll also find an unbeatable pudding menu, featuring the likes of warm chocolate brownie with milk sorbet, blackberries and white chocolate sauce. The quality of the food is matched only by the warm welcome of the guest rooms, each thoughtfully decorated with reclaimed vintage furniture. Putting this beautiful corner of England on the map, The King’s Head is a gem; eat, drink or stay and you’ll never want to leave. Booking is essential.
