The Blue Anchor
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Ornamental ducks and old-fashioned lamps lend the interior a traditional feel that instantly puts you at ease and able to concentrate on the food, which is all prepared to order from great locally sourced ingredients. Our chosen dishes arrived beautifully cooked and in good time. I would recommend the crabcakes, which were complemented by a spicy kick courtesy of the accompanying chilli sauce; while the breaded Brie, with a red wine and balsamic dressing, was delectable. The main dishes were equally satisfying, generously portioned and well presented. Although messy, the garlic king prawns were flavoursome and tender and my dining partner's choice of duck with plum sauce was also well received. We simply didn't have room to squeeze in the delicious sounding desserts - each one a classic favourite.
The service throughout was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed an unexpected live music performance. You can even pop down and try your hand at the regular darts, pool and quiz nights, or indulge in some wholesome fresh food at one of the summer garden barbecues.
