Birmingham Road, Hatton, Warwick, CV35 7JJ
The Waterman lies on the Hatton Estate and epitomises the traditional English country pub. Dating back to the 18th Century, the pub is located on the turnpike between Warwick and Birmingham and once served as a coaching inn. The extensive gardens at the rear overlook the famous 21 Hatton Locks, known to many as the 'stairway to heaven' - the longest flight on the Grand Union Canal.

The Waterman is a blend of old and new, with its log fire, weathered beams and contemporary decor. You can tuck yourself away in a quiet nook or cranny with a pint of real ale in the bar, or enjoy a meal in one of the distinctive, hand-painted dining areas. Enjoy a glass of quality wine from the comprehensive list, or opt for a pint of locally brewed Arkwrights beer. The restaurant s e rves a range of traditional dishes with contemporary twists, including daily specials and mouth-watering desserts, and all the dishes are prepared with fresh, quality ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible.

The chefs are passionate about the ingredients they use and strive to create outstanding dishes to tempt those visiting for lunch or dinner. If you're visiting for lunch, you can expect to be offered delicious starters and light bites such as a blue cheese, spinach and sweet red onion jam tartlet with a fig balsamic reduction, as well as an array of freshly made sandwiches. The deli boards are great for sharing, especially when accompanied by a chilled glass of Chablis. For your main course why not try the beerbattered pollock with minted pea purée, lemon-and-caper aioli and fries, or perhaps Arkwrights ale, pork and apple sausages with creamy mash and a caramelised shallot gravy. If you are feeling a little more adventurous, the evening menu offers dishes such as pan-roasted king scallops served with black tiger prawns, air-dried Serrano ham and a pickled vegetable salad, or pan-roasted fillet of Lighthorne Farm lamb with a garlic and rosemary polenta cake, served on a ragout of braised lamb neck and borlotti beans. Sunday lunch at The Waterman is quite an event, offering a delicious selection of roast dinners, with half portions available for children.

The outside terrace offers alfresco dining with breathtaking views across the Hatton Locks to the Cotswold Hills in the distance, and during the summer months the garden bar and barbecue are open on Wednesday evenings and weekends, serving homemade burgers, local sausages, juicy steaks and tasty salads. The Waterman also incorporates The Private Room, available for family functions, weddings or meetings, and the beautifully decorated room opens out onto the terrace, making it the ideal choice for that special occasion.

If you feel a little overindulged after all that food and drink, there are three new walking routes for you to enjoy across the Hatton Estate, which link well-established attractions - Hatton Country World and Hatton Locks - to The Waterman. The Waterman Country Pub & Restaurant offers something for everyone, and you are assured a warm welcome every time you visit.
