Fox boasts a sophisticated concept inspired by the beauty and skill of wood-fired cooking. Dishes emerge from the fl ames seared, crispy and succulent with an unrivalled depth of flavour. The open-plan kitchen adds excitement and anticipation to the dining experience with a wood-burning pizza oven and an open-fire grill taking centre stage.
The sourdough pizzas are light and crispy – why not trade the classic tomato base for one without tomato, such as the Gorgonzola and fig, with slivers of prosciutto and delicious melting mozzarella? If seafood is more to your liking, the subtly sweet taste of the grilled hake accompanied by chorizo and Puy lentil ragu is sure to appeal. More delicate still, the fillet of plaice comes straight from the grill and is embellished with lemon and parsley butter. Much of the seafood at Fox is sourced from the west coast of Scotland and the island of Barra – this freshness won’t be lost on your tastebuds. Cooking over an open flame is thought to be the healthiest way to cook protein. Fox’s steaks are aged for 28 to 35 days and sourced from Black Angus cattle from Cheshire and Shropshire; they’re surpassingly juicy. Sizzling from the heat of the fire, the meat is meltingly tender. If that wasn’t enough, just wait until you hear about the Sunday roasts, where diners can enjoy the likes of sirloin of Hereford Red beef with a complimentary glass of Prosecco.
The bar showcases a wide range of draught, bottled and craft beer. The extensive wine list has Old World and New World vintages to suit all tastes, although real connoisseurs should cast their eyes over the Fine and Rare Fox list. The knowledgeable bar staff will happily talk you through the choice of Tignanello, Sassicaia or Gaja. Whether you like your cocktails long, short, sweet, sour or smoky, the cocktail menu holds a myriad of delights. The Smoked Godfather is a tasty blend of smoked amaretto, Haig Clubman Scotch whisky and chocolate bitters. The Gojious might be more your flavour and is a vibrant concoction of Fair Goji liqueur, Grey Goose vodka, nettle, rosehip cordial, almond sugar, raspberries and cranberry juice.
