A few months ago experienced landlord Nic Swanson took charge of The Millwrights, and subsequently he has transformed what was once a run-down, tired boozer into a well-kept traditional family pub. Its brand new image throughout allows you to sit at or around the bar, or relax in the comfort of the leather armchairs and couches. Now serving great pub food in a laid-back setting, The Millwrights is aiming to be 'your local pub', providing a good range of traditional and guest real ales, extra cold lagers, a full selection of soft drinks and a full wine list.

Another significant change has been the opening of the kitchen. The menu includes lots of pub classics, such as pies, cod and scampi, and there's also a good range of jackets, baguettes, paninis and lighter bites. The daily specials board provides even more choice, including the baguette of the day, as well as regular offers and deals. Children are catered for with smaller portions.

The Millwrights has a large, safe, enclosed family beer garden (with smoking area). There's a pool table and darts board, with teams for all to join, and large-screen TVs showing all sporting events. The quiz night takes place every Thursday and on Sundays they have an open games night including poker, Wii, darts and pool, among others - all are free. Soon Nic hopes to be adding live music and more entertainment to the bill, further adding to The Millwrights' reputation for being a very comfortable and traditional locals' pub.
