Green Tea Restaurant
Chinese and East Asian
222 Burton Road, West Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2LW
Inspired by her grandmother's cooking whilst living in north-east China as a child, Jenny Cui moved to England and opened the Green Tea Restaurant in 2008. Her aim was to offer affordable, authentic, quality food and the dishes on offer certainly tick all these boxes and more. Refurbished in August 2010 to create a more contemporary feel, the decor is reminiscent of the owner's Chinese roots, and this passion for authenticity filters right through to the delicious food. All the meals available are based on family-orientated, traditional cuisine from the Liao Ning region of China and are made from fresh ingredients. On the menu you'll find simple classics made using healthy cooking methods, with a focus on using less salt and sugar without losing out on taste. Their signature dish is the fantastic belly pork stew and the restaurant also specialises in jiaozi, dumplings filled with meat or vegetables and seasoned with sesame oil. The separate healthy menu has been devised with Didsbury-based personal trainer and food nutritional scientist Michael Bach and is filled with wholesome ingredients. Whatever menu they choose from, visitors to the Green Tea Restaurant can certainly dine safe in the knowledge that the food is not only undeniably flavoursome, but good for them too.
