Croma – Didsbury
A passion for providing inviting, customer-focused service lies at the heart of gourmet pizzeria, Croma. Spread over four floors, this smart, well-appointed establishment boasts contemporary decor with clean lines and modern furnishings. The restaurant is light and airy, so visitors feel like they’re dining al fresco no matter where they sit and no matter when they visit. The atmosphere at Croma shifts throughout the week. Plenty of business lunches take place on weekdays thanks to the outstanding pizza menu, served Sunday to Friday between noon and 3pm. In the evening you’ll see pretheatre diners aplenty, and weekend visits promise a vibrant buzz thanks to flowing Prosecco and lots of cocktails being mixed. It was also named the most family-friendly restaurant at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival for three years in a row.
The menu reflects classic Italian cuisine with pizza and pasta dishes featuring prominently, but with many options given an inspired contemporary twist. Why not start with bresaola and artichoke salad, or perhaps stave off hunger by sharing freshly baked dough balls while you wait for your mains to be served? Pizzas are cooked fresh to order and the choice is varied and creative. Among the many customer favourites is Croma’s Greek pizza – a crème fraîche base topped with feta cheese, green olives, green peppers, green chillies and fresh oregano. If you’re not in the mood for pizza, plenty of alternatives are available, such as linguine tossed with fresh brown and white crabmeat, tiger prawns, sun-blushed tomatoes and chilli flakes. Those with a sweet-tooth will be delighted to hear that Croma fires up its pizza ovens first thing in the morning to bake a plethora of tempting homemade desserts like brownies and chocolate fudge cake.
Croma boasts a great value, expertly put together wine list with some options produced especially for the restaurant by Sicilian winery Cantine Settesoli. The bar also stocks local beer produced by Brightside Brewery along with plenty of bottled beers and ciders. When you visit, be sure to ask about Croma’s offers and tailored menus, such as the early-bird menu that’s served Sunday to Friday between 3pm and 7pm.
