Loch Fyne - Alderley Edge
Found in a beautiful rural spot, Loch Fyne is a bright, spacious restaurant that has made its mark by serving patrons fresh, seasonal seafood. Pull up a chair and take note of the excellent value set menu: a lunchtime visit means two courses for just £10.95 and three courses £12.95, while in the evening, two courses cost just £15 and a full three-course meal comes in at £18. For a thoroughly enjoyable evening, I recommend booking a table here for about 8pm and settling in for a starter of Loch Fyne's famous Scottish rope-grown mussels in a creamy garlic, shallot and parsley sauce (complete with crusty bread for dipping), before moving on to a plate of beautiful hake with a Cheddar and herb crust served with lobster bisque, spinach and peas. Dessert is a no-brainer - the espresso panna cotta with lemon curd cream, cinnamon and almond crumble and spiced toast is a treat that hits all the right notes. If the select choices on the set menu don't quite tickle your fancy, there's plenty to choose from on the à la carte, including the likes of shellfish tagliatelle and humble fish and chips, as well as quality burgers and aged steaks. Repeat visits may well be necessary to tackle all that this eatery has to offer.
