Sitting beside a spectacular tank of tropical fish in the nautically themed restaurant at The Liner Hotel, I found myself wondering why on earth I had never eaten here before. The decor, menu and fantastic service built high expectations for a great meal, so when our mussels in white wine and cream sauce and crumbed Brie arrived, the first forkfuls were full of promise. Both were delicious and set the bar high for mains of rump steak and honey-and-sesame-seed-baked salmon. The steak was a tender cut with great taste, while the salmon was fragrant and complemented perfectly by pak choi, wok-fried noodles and a superb glass of wine. Whether you have adventurous tastebuds or prefer something more familiar, you'll always find a delectable dish to suit your palate.

Seven Seas is an oasis in the midst of this bustling city. Ideally situated close to Lime Street station, the main shopping area, world heritage sites, museums, galleries and theatres, it is the perfect place to enjoy a mid-morning coffee, brunch or a fantastic evening meal. The pre-theatre selection of dishes, available from 5pm to 7pm, is one of the most impressive and competitively priced in Liverpool - so booking is highly advised. No matter when you decide to visit, you'll have a fine time at this gorgeous eatery. I, for one, will certainly be going back.
