The Everyman Bistro

0.5 miles
5-9 Hope Street, Liverpool (new location after 2011), L1 9BH
Something of a Liverpool institution, The Everyman Bistro opened up a whole new world of food to the city. The Everyman was founded 40 years ago, so its punters have grown to know what to expect - fresh food made with prime ingredients, all at a price that can't be found anywhere else.

How do they provide such good value? Owners Paddy, Dave and Tim have no qualms when it comes to revealing their secrets; in fact, it's their honesty that keeps diners coming back for more. All food is cooked during the day and displayed on the counter, so you can see what you're getting, and, when you've made your selection, your food will be reheated ready to eat. Not many eateries are so open about the way they work. Their ingredients are sourced from top local producers, while fresh supplies arrive every day, then everything is cooked from scratch on the premises - including their famous puddings.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, The Everyman has received much critical acclaim, achieving commendations from the Harden's Guide, winning several 'Best Cheap Eats' awards and featuring in the Good Beer Guide. So make sure you don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind establishment and the chance to enjoy some good, honest, tasty grub. The Everyman will sadly be closing in July 2011 (due to demolition), with plans to reopen nearby in the future - so watch this space.
