Tasteful contemporary furnishings and excellent hospitality await you at Harrys, a stylish bar and brasserie on Whitby's beautiful harbour.

Harrys offers casual, relaxed drinking and dining at its best. The bar serves a wide range of drinks throughout the day, with everything from tea and coffee to quality wines and cocktails available to sip while sitting back and watching the world go by, either at a cosy table in front of the large windows or on the terrace outside. Those who choose to dine here will find it a pleasingly informal, flexible and sociable experience - dishes are served in starter-sized portions so diners can order several to share.

We started with garlicky tiger prawns and flavourful wild mushroom risotto. Intrigued by the 'steak on a stone' dish, we ordered it for our next course and were presented with tender prime steak sizzling on a hot stone. Delicately herbed potatoes, carrots and creamy leeks were tasty accompaniments. I also eagerly tucked into delicious smoked haddock fishcakes and chunky chips. An assiette of desserts to finish - a small serving of six different treats to share - was exquisitely presented, and each one tasted even better than it looked. Harrys offers impressive surroundings, wonderful cuisine and beautifully furnished guest rooms, and is a must for locals and visitors to this historic town
