Saltwater Fish Company
Found in the new Fenwick Food Hall, Saltwater Fish Company operates as both a restaurant and fishmonger, where their ethos is: ‘we cook what we sell, we sell what we cook’. The restaurant offers fast-paced, casual seafood dining in super stylish surroundings. It welcomes those in search of a nourishing meal and those simply wanting to take the weight off their feet after all that shopping with a brisk glass of Champagne and perhaps an oyster or two.
It’s a bright, sophisticated space made up of 19 seats. You can sit at the counter and watch the creative chefs at work in the open kitchen – there’s no fuss here, just friendly service and an obvious passion for seafood. The menu reflects in- season produce from day boats working off the North East coast so a diverse range of seafood is on offer – you can look forward to oysters from different beds, tuna tartare, gravlax, salt and pepper squid, seafood cocktails, crab sandwiches and salads, as well as comforting fish stews and stunning French- style fruits de mer platters.
At Saltwater diners can enjoy a filling large plate, or, if you are in the mood for a light bite and a glass of wine, you can grab a snack or a small plate. Whether it’s a small or large dish that you order, a fish-focused wine list is on-hand to accompany the menu.
However, if you haven’t got time to take a seat or have already indulged but fancy some seafood delights for later in the week, you can marvel at the fish counter, which is brimming with a huge variety of fresh fish – the beauty of Saltwater Fish Company’s ethos is that you can also enjoy their beautiful seafood at home. The amiable staff are on-hand to share their knowledge and recommend recipes.
Oyster Happy Hour is between 3pm and 5pm when oysters are only £1 per shuck. But if it’s true seafood decadence you’re after, treat yourself to a fruits de mer platter – guaranteed to please even the most avid seafood lover.
