Evan’s Bistro is conveniently located within easy reach of the Metro station in the heart of Whitley Bay. This family-run venue boasts a lovely menu showcasing locally sourced, wholesome food with modern touches. Cosy booths and soft lighting create an intimate ambience.
Head chef Mark Spratt creates innovative bistro-style dishes such as potted crab and shrimp with clarified butter and garlic toast, black pudding and asparagus salad with a poached egg, and North Shields mussels tossed in either garlic, white wine, and parsley, or tomato and chilli sauce, and served with baked ciabatta. For a flavoursome seafood main, plump for the grilled monkfish tail on chorizo medallions, accompanied by braised tenderstem broccoli, pimento potatoes and sundried tomato sauce. The crispy duck breast with beetroot purée, confit shallots, wild mushrooms, herbed polenta cake and raspberry reduction is a display of Mark’s creativity. Traditional classics such as steak and ale pie, battered cod loin with chips and tartare sauce, and a gorgeous 8oz rib-eye steak always feature on the menu for days when comfort food is a must.
