Situated in Newcastle’s Fenwick Food Hall, this exciting new concept brings together a butcher’s counter and a fabulous steakhouse under one stylish, contemporary roof. Showcasing the very best cuts of UK beef, the talented chefs pride themselves on cooking meat to absolute perfection on the charcoal-fired Josper grill. You can see them at work in the open kitchen, and even quiz them about the very best cuts and techniques. Named after the ultimate steak – a sizeable T-bone with the largest proportion of fillet and sirloin meat – Porterhouse doesn’t hold back when it comes to sourcing the most delicious meats. From Himalayan salt-aged beef and organic wagyu beef from Northumberland, to rare-breed pork from County Durham, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Raw and cured dishes include Lindisfarne oysters, steak tartare, and Saltwater sashimi of tuna, salmon and sea bass. Small plates such as fried duck egg with Basque black pudding, and crunchy-fried chicken wings with hot sauce are great starters, and make the perfect accompaniment to a refreshing beverage. Alongside the sumptuous steaks, mains include grilled lamb chops with mint jelly, peppered Goosnargh duck breast with duck fat potatoes, and calf’s liver with sage, bacon and onions. Sides such as hipster chips with truffle oil and Parmesan, and steamed greens with extra virgin olive oil are the perfect way to enhance your meal.
To accompany your meal, choose from a wide range of wine and Champagne by the glass or by the bottle. Whether it’s a robust red to bring out rich, smoky flavours, or a crisp white to accompany your seafood starter or chicken Caesar salad, there’s something to suit every palate and budget on this extensive list.
