Just a three-minute walk from the River Tyne, the Barrasford Arms is a country pub and restaurant with lovely guest accommodation, and is perfectly placed for those wishing to enjoy a spot of fishing on the North Tyne river, or explore explore Hadrian’s Wall and the surrounding Northumbrian countryside.

Victoria and Michael Eames have recently taken over this chocolate-box pub, which dates back to the 1800s. They are already delighting guests with their delectable offering of locally sourced British fare that lets Michael’s talent shine through. As head chef, Michael ensures that the quality of food is second to none, focusing on simple, elegant food that is packed with flavour, and champions local suppliers. Regularly changing seasonal menus may include the likes of smoked mackerel terrine with Savoy cabbage, lemon cream and saffron syrup, and pan-fried coley with tenderstem broccoli, Charlotte potatoes, samphire, and cream sauce. The irresistible dessert menu may feature sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream, and chocolate fondant, hazelnut praline, caramel sauce and wild cherry ice cream – it doesn’t get much better than this.
