In the heart of Low Fell in Gateshead, Rosa Twelve is a bar and restaurant, split across three floors, which serves delicious Mediterranean and British fare every day of the week.
The à la carte menu boasts wholesome food, including starters of crispy potato skins with garlic mayonnaise and barbecue sauce, grilled halloumi served on a bed of salad with sweet chilli dip and a fantastic Greek mezze. For seafood fans we would recommend the moules marinières or the battered and deep-fried calamari, lightly seasoned and served with lemon mayo. Main courses are equally diverse, with hearty meat dishes such as the Greek-style slow-cooked lamb shank, served with creamy mashed potato and mint jus, and some beautiful steaks. For vegetarians we would recommend the delicious aubergine bake or the deep-fried falafel balls, served with homemade flatbread, Greek salad and assorted dips. Diners really are spoilt for choice here, as you’ll also find a range of pizzas, pasta dishes and delicious burgers on the menu.
Every Thursday from 5pm Rosa Twelve hosts a steak night, and a traditional lunch is served from noon every Sunday. You can also sample two courses from the set menu for only £12.
Hidden in the basement is the Lugano Bar that will take you by surprise. Previously, the restaurant was the infamous Italia and when renovated from top to bottom, a hidden gem was unearthed – a secret basement bar that is full of character and charm. The Lugano Bar is a private hideaway, which provides an escape from the bustle of the high street where you can enjoy live music and entertainment. Due to its popularity, Rosa Twelve now offers private dining and exclusive use of the Lugano Bar for parties, business meetings and charity events.
