St James’ Court, 54 Buckingham Gate, Westminster, London, SW1E 6AF
If you find yourself in Westminster looking for relaxed yet classy place for lunch or dinner, look no further than Bistro, a stylish venue situated within the lauded St James’ Court hotel. There are two enticing lunchtime menus to choose from. The Global Bento express lunch menu offers a choice of six international three-course meal selections, which many of our fellow diners were enjoying when we visited. We opted for the tempting set menu, which presents a choice of three starters, three mains and two desserts and changes with the seasons. My starter of prawn tempura was wonderfully light and came with a spicy baby gem salad, samphire and sharp pickled ginger. My wife opted for the Indian samosa chaat – Bistro’s take on Indian street food – accompanied by a fresh onion, tomato and coriander chutney. Crispy vermicelli gave the dish a satisfying crunch. My partner’s main of chicken tikka masala was superbly spiced, and my more traditional grilled salmon came with creamed potato, seasonal vegetables and a creamy caper sauce. An Earl Grey Cambridge burnt cream and sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream rounded off a superb meal. During the daytime Bistro is a bright and serene setting in which to dine, while at night the restaurant provides the perfect ambience for a romantic dinner à deux. If you’ve been exploring the city all day, there’s no better place to relax and enjoy superb meal.
