This primarily vegetarian and vegan café is a very welcome find on a bustling high street. Owner Peter has created a unique all-day dining spot, where vibrant juices and breakfasts of eggs cooked just how you like morph into laid-back lunches. An enticing array of raw vegan cakes and freshly made salads taking centre stage in the window tempt visitors inside. Once you’ve been reeled in, the quiet and welcoming two-storey café boasts a clean, modern interior that lets the healthy, natural food do the talking.
We sipped a fresh pineapple, carrot, ginger, lemon and chilli juice as we scanned the delightful lunch menu, which features a selection of vibrant salads, hot and cold vegetarian dishes, raw vegan sushi as well as a scattering of fish and meat dishes.
The waitress was helpful, talking us through the fun menu and telling us about the recipes and ingredients. We couldn’t resist the raw vegan sushi, which we shared along with a large, colourful mixed salad bowl and beautifully layered homemade lasagne. The highlight had to be the vegan sushi with walnuts, cashews, carrot and pesto and sundried tomatoes wrapped in nori. Our lunch visit ended with a delicious raw vegan carrot cake and strawberry cheesecake – tasty accompaniments to a wonderful fresh coffee.
