If you're out and about in Whitechapel and fancy dining somewhere a little different from your usual Indian restaurant, Zaza's restaurant is a great shout. The big, bold sign will catch your eye, and a quick peek at the casual opulence of the decor - regal but comfortable - will seal the deal.

This popular restaurant is a great place for families, friends, couples, tourists and workers alike. All visit Zaza's to sample the authentic Punjabi cuisine, and here the focus is on healthy grills. From the moment you are seated, you'll be treated like royalty. We began with a familiar spread of poppadoms and traditional dips while we perused the menu. Ask for something different, and you'll certainly get it. Both tinda massala (baby pumpkin) and the bhindi are wonderfully adventurous choices. Tandoori fish is red as ruby, chicken tikka malaye and kasooris are buttery and delicate, while meaty kormas jalfrezis and massalas are cooked to perfection and the prawn and chop dishes will whisk you away to exotic climes. Zaza's dishes are all packed with flavour and I would recommend accompanying your choice with one of the delicious naans - my peshwari was sublime. Try a lassi to end your meal. Zaza's is a bring-your-own establishment, so grab your favourite bottle of wine and head on down. It's also worth checking their delicious daily specials. Forget va va voom, get some Zaza zoom
