588 Mile End Road, London, E3 4PH

Opened in summer 2016, the Rusty Bike Pub is fast becoming a favourite with locals thanks to its relaxed, canteen-style atmosphere, great beer and tasty, freshly prepared Thai food.

The duck spring roll is a popular way to start, as are deep-fried sweet potatoes with sesame. Other light options include spicy green papaya salad, and tom yum soup with zingy lemongrass, chilli and fresh herbs. Jantaburi pad Thai is an excellent choice as a main course – the crab meat and apple topping perfectly complements the prawns and spicy noodles, while the addition of lime provides a zesty tang to lift the sweetness. Traditional red, green and massaman curries also feature, as do stir fries, and rice and vegetable sides.

On the beer front, perhaps pick Cobra or Singha for an appropriately Asian flavour. Choose Sierra Nevada for a craft beer that pairs perfectly with a Thai curry, or opt for a familiar classic such as Carling or Guinness.

The outdoor patio seating is a hit during warmer weather and service is friendly and efficient, making the Rusty Bike Pub the perfect spot for a mid-week lunch. If you can’t get down to the pub, make use of their great value takeaway and home delivery service via Deliveroo. If you enjoy the Rusty Bike Pub, try sister venues the Rusty Bike Kitchen in Dalston Road and the Rusty Bike Café in Hornsey Road.
