London Marriott West India Quay, a luxury five-star hotel in Canary Wharf, is home to Manhattan Grill; a cosy, upmarket steakhouse with a superb wine cellar and a passion for serving quality beef.
The decor is opulent and the lighting muted, creating a relaxed atmosphere in which to sample top-notch cuisine. We began our meal with succulent king prawns in Marie Rose sauce and a moreish, almost burger-like crabcake made with baked blue swimmer crab. Steaks followed – Creekstone Kansas Black Angus for my partner and an Aberdeen Angus fillet for me. Both were perfectly cooked, not to mention wonderfully complemented by the full-bodied Chilean red that accompanied the fare – one of Manhattan Grill’s many selling points is the in-house wine-tasting service. We also greatly enjoyed our sides of mac and cheese with pulled pork, and sweet potato fries that were deliciously crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. To round off the meal we shared the Manhattan Cheesecake: a devilishly creamy slice paired with red berry compote. It proved a lovely way to complete the evening.
From the polite, knowledgeable service to the consistently first-class food, Manhattan Grill delivers on all fronts, and a visit to this restaurant is a must for even the most discerning of steak fans.
