The owner of this beloved independent Italian eatery loved sailing on the Amerigo Vespucci ship so much he named his restaurant after it. Characterised by its delicious Italian cuisine, classic list of cocktails, and jovial service, Amerigo Vespucci is a wonderful restaurant that leaves a lasting impression.
Since opening over 24 years ago, it has had many facelifts to keep things fresh and offer loyal followers something new; today you’ll find soft lighting and neat black tables and grey chairs, lending a tranquil atmosphere. Meanwhile, the stylish al fresco bar terrazzo, complete with its own bar and heating, has a more upbeat vibe, and is available to hire privately for special occasions and events. Now open from 9am, a selection of fantastic Italian coffees, pastries and fresh juices are on offer every morning.
The cooking is suffused with passion and the seasonal menu hops around the regions of Italy, showcasing the diversity of Italian cuisine. Start with lobster Monte Carlo or seared scallops served with mint purée, topped with bacon and parsnip crisps. Mains of creamy saffron risotto served with Parmesan and poached pear, and linguine served with a selection of seafood merit sampling.
Desserts stay true to this restaurant’s Italian heritage and include tiramisu and chocolate brownie topped with toasted almonds and drizzled with hazelnut liqueur. At Amerigo Vespucci you can eat light or you can indulge – whatever you’re in the mood for, you’ll certainly leave satisfied.
