Gourmet Burger Kitchen eateries are becoming an increasingly regular sight around the UK, as this fantastic chain of restaurants goes from strength to strength. The company was started by three New Zealanders, who set up the first restaurant in Battersea ten years ago and haven't looked back since. The company prides itself on its laid-back attitude, but it takes food very seriously indeed. The buns are created by an artisan baker, the burgers are made using top-quality beef and all ingredients used are as fresh as can be. The menu is impressively diverse, with lashings of extras to accompany your fresh, 100-per-cent-beef burger. You can opt for a small or regular burger, or even attempt the aptly named 'Mighty', which includes two juicy 6oz patties. There's a range of side dishes to suit everyone, including fantastic chunky chips, plus a great selection of dips. Want your burger bunless, with blue cheese or perhaps an extra helping of avocado? No problem. The friendly kitchen team will let you add or take away ingredients to your heart's content. Got beef fatigue? Then perhaps try chicken, spicy Spanish chorizo or even buffalo; or, try a flavoursome salad. There's also plenty on the menu for vegetarians, including delicious meat-free burgers made with the likes of sweet potato and red peppers. The drinks menu offers refreshing beverages to wash it all down with, including quality beers and ciders, a well-chosen selection of wines and gbk's immensely popular milkshakes. You won't find a truer taste of New Zealand's laid-back, lip-smacking cuisine anywhere else.
