The Eel Pie
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The Eel Pie caters for all crowds, and is set on one of Twickenham’s prettiest riverside roads. We visited on a pleasant summer evening and were immediately taken with the buzzy atmosphere and cheerful patrons propping up the bar. The decor is smart yet homely, with an emphatic nod to the town’s rugby heritage. You’ll find an extensive range of drinks behind the bar, including a great selection of Badger ale alongside a top-notch wine list.
We took our seats near the bar and began our meal with a satisfyingly runny Scotch egg, and filo prawns complemented by sweet chilli dip. For our mains, we sampled a hearty chicken Caesar burger, consisting of grilled chicken topped with streaky bacon, Monterey Jack cheese and Caesar mayo in a toasted brioche bun, served with a salad and triple-cooked chips. We also sampled a generous portion of beautifully crisp, oven-baked aubergine Parmigiana. We simply couldn’t deny ourselves a delicious dessert, and so shared a rich chocolate fondant with a gooey centre. To round things off we enjoyed cappuccinos from the Colourful Coffee Company, which provided a satisfying end to what was a wonderful meal.
If you’re seeking a fantastic venue with friendly service and proper pub food, look no further than The Eel Pie.
