Brouge has been a favourite with local foodies since 2005, and a recent refurbishment has brought more space and a breath of fresh air to this much-loved restaurant and bar. Blade, Miri and the team offer the warmest of welcomes and, with such an extensive range of beer, delicious food and live music from 8pm on Thursdays, you'll likely never want to leave.

There are more than 75 beers from around the world, a well-considered wine list and tempting cocktails. In fact, two-for-one cocktails are available every day between 7pm and 9pm - and that's not the only offer at Brouge. Two courses are priced at just £9.95 between noon and 7pm, Monday to Friday; you can enjoy an 8oz rib-eye and a drink for just £12 while taking part in the Monday night quiz; on Tuesdays, you can get a sizzling fajita and a drink for £12; and on Wednesdays barbecue ribs plus a drink will only set you back £13. The pièce de resistance is the Sunday carvery served from noon until 5pm, featuring freshly cooked meats and all the trimmings for just £10.95 - it's popular, so be sure to book ahead.

The menu features Belgian classics and British favourites. Moules frites are a standard of Belgian cuisine and Brouge offers some of the best. Try scented Thai mussels served with coconut creme, chilli and spring onion, washed down with a Steenbrugge Blonde beer. You can also enjoy al fresco dining in the garden area, and I can't think of a better place to spend a sunny day
