The Ravensbury has something for everyone – there’s a bar and nightclub, major sporting events are shown live in high definition and the restaurant serves a delicious array of Indian and Hakka Chinese food. The decor is modern and bright, with comfortable seating in vibrant, attractive colours. It’s a lively and welcoming place, and can easily accommodate groups of all different sizes. To whet our appetites we sampled nibbles from the Indian menu: crunchy poppadoms and a selection of chutneys. To follow, I chose a starter of honeyed chilli potatoes – deliciously sweet and spicy potatoes rolled in sesame seeds. My companion opted for the Mongolian paneer, which was delicately spiced and extremely tasty. The attentive staff were keen to ensure that everything was exactly to our taste, with just the right levels of spice. For our main courses we turned to the Hakka menu, tucking into red chicken curry and sweet and sour vegetables – both dishes were full of flavour and vibrancy. We accompanied these delights with Singapore noodles, vegetable yeung chow fried rice, and a Peshwari naan. The appealing menu is remarkable for its diversity and we were as impressed by the generous portions as by how attractively every dish was presented. There are so many dishes that we’d still love to try that we can’t wait to come back.
