Bamboula, named after a Creole dance performed by carnival queens, is a vibrant and sunny Caribbean restaurant that has been serving flavoursome food to its faithful regulars, and those on a quest to discover new tastes, since 1997. Bamboula's vibe is laid-back and relaxing, aided by exotic Caribbean plants, bamboo dividers that don the walls and partitions, and atmospheric Caribbean music which floats in the air, much like the intriguing aromas drifting from the kitchen. You can almost feel the tropical warmth of the West Indies.

Bamboula is an excellent showcase for the simple sophistication of Caribbean cuisine. As a fusion of regional styles - taking cooking methods and inspiration from cultures around the world - Caribbean food is a unique and delicious adventure for the palate. Many a paragraph could be written explaining the delights of Bamboula's exotic brunch, lunch and dinner menus, but, in brief, light bites might include large red pea (beans) soup, a vegetarian broth with dumplings, pumpkin and yam, the exotic iconic Caribbean callaloo, stir fried with onions and seasoning, or the perfectly spiced Jamaican ackee and saltfish. For a main course from the dinner menu, indulge in the sharp Mediterranean escoveitch supreme - a whole snapper prepared with carrots and cho cho squash in a traditional pickle sauce. Bamboula's bar offerings are as adventurous as the food menu. Colourful cocktails and Bamboula specials feature on the drinks menu, and you may find yourself giving in to mixes such as Jamaican-style rum punch, or a rum and sorrel cocktail.

Bamboula is truly one of a kind, and with a takeaway service available night and day, and a wide selection of dishes to be had for under £10, this is an opportunity to try something a little bit different - so grab your sandals and experience the Caribbean, just for a while. Caribbean
