Texas Embassy Cantina, housed in an impressive Georgian building, sits in a prime spot on the edge of Trafalgar Square. It was opened 17 years ago by three Texans on a mission to bring authentic Tex-Mex dining to London, who shipped everything from the bullet-peppered road signs in the bar to the kitchen appliances directly from Texas. This attention to detail has made Texas Embassy a London dining institution. The restaurant spans two floors, each with its own bar - the ground floor looks like a Mexican village at fiesta time, while upstairs you'll find an Independence-Era-style saloon, which can be reserved for private parties.

The menu features flavoursome starters like tortilla soup - a chicken-and-tomato-based broth with crispy tortilla strips and cheese - and moreish mains like chicken pimiento, which features sizzling chicken breast covered with melted Cheddar cheese, sautéed peppers, onions and tomatoes, served with rice and beans. There are also tasty tacos, enchiladas and fajitas, which can be ordered with a variety of mouth-watering fillings, plus succulent speciality steaks.

The Embassy is renowned for its expertly made Margaritas and extensive choice of tequila, and there's also a great wine selection, chosen to complement the food. So slice your lime, shake that salt, slam your tequila and toast Texas Embassy Cantina's fresh, authentic food - Tex-Mex at its best.
