Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Housed within the magnificent Corinthia Hotel London, and designed by David Collins Studio, Bassoon is billed as ‘a destination bar with attitude’. Combining a relaxed and intimate ambience with a stimulating dash of theatre, this contemporary bar pays homage to the artistry of the finest bartenders in the capital.
Bespoke cocktails, superb Champagne and boutique spirits are served in elegant replicas of Queen Victoria’s glassware along a seven-metre bar that sweeps into a bespoke Roland piano. The array of tempting cocktails, created by skilled mixologists, are simply irresistible – the Negroni, with Tanqueray 10 gin, Bassoon’s sweet vermouth, bitter Campari, and Cynar liqueur, served on the rocks is one of the best. There’s also a select menu if you’re in the mood for a bite to eat, featuring nibbles such as Loch Var smoked salmon, Porthilly rock oysters and caviar.
Most evenings, the bar plays host to live music Signature Sessions, which have previously included performances from Lana Del Ray and the Scissor Sisters, and showcases the best music from breakthrough artists as well as established performers. With jazz-inspired art from William H. Johnson and an Art Deco design, the spirit and rhythm of the 1920s music room makes for a luxurious and cosy drinking den.
