Sleek, honest and undeniably French, The French Table is loved by all who visit. Husband-and-wife-team Eric and Sarah Guignard have created a friendly establishment to which a loyal following of dedicated diners flock to enjoy classic French food with a Mediterranean twist. Eric heads up the kitchen, where he utilises his extensive experience - from his Paris training to stints in Michelinstarred restaurants - and creates dishes that honour the fresh flavours of his ingredients. Dining here will remind you why the French are renowned for their cuisine. Guests are often tempted to try Eric's cookery classes, where he teaches a variety of skills, from creating evening meals to baking the perfect loaf.

The set lunch menu is popular throughout the week, and with good reason, as it boasts the likes of crab and ginger velouté with crab tortellini, followed by roasted free-range guinea fowl with truffle mash, and topped off with strawberry mille-feuille with fig sorbet. Vegetarians will be pleased with their dedicated menu, and when the farmers' market comes to town, diners are treated to a farmers' market breakfast. The promise of poached free-range egg with smoked haddock, potato salad, bacon, brioche and Hollandaise sauce would certainly get me out of bed in the morning. You'll also find Eric and Sarah hosting many a charity evening, from wine pairings to charity dinners. This French belle is certainly deserving of its many rave reviews
