From humble beginnings as a street-food pop-up that gained a cult following for award-winning barbecue fare, the team behind Smok’d expanded to inhabit three thriving pubs: The Grey Horse in Kingston, White Hart in Witley and The Winterton Arms in Chiddingfold. The team’s passion for all things barbecue paid off when they won Ribstock, Hackney’s famous barbecue contest, in 2013. They won this with their succulent melt-in-your-mouth Jacob’s Ladder beef ribs, proudly taking the crown of Great British Rib Champions. Subsequently, the team made it onto popular international lifestyle magazine Thrillist’s list of the best burgers in the world. Incredible early week £10 meal deals make any of the Smok’d venues a great choice any day of the week, proving popular with all ages. A kid’s menu is also available.
Besides serving London’s best barbecue food, The Grey Horse is also an exceptional pub, winning TimeOut’s Most Loved Local Pub award for three years running. The bar is stocked with a great range of beers, cocktails and over 150 bottles of whisky from all over the world. Every week you’ll find London’s best blues and jazz acts in a separate intimate venue at the pub’s rear, known as Ram Jam Records, which also gained recognition from TimeOut and was named Most Loved Music Venue in Kingston in 2018. Every Friday evening the pub hosts some of the UK’s best comedians, with regular appearances from TV comics such as Rhod Gilbert, Andy Parsons and Ian Stone, to name just a few.
