Great British food is embellished with contemporary style at The Boater's. An array of fresh fish and shellfish is available and - depending on the season and the chefs' mood - may include the likes of whole lobsters and hen crabs. Other standout dishes on the ever-changing menu were onglet steak with garlic king prawns and skin-on fries, and salmon fillet with spinach and ricotta tortellini. You'll also find some hunger-inducing platters, of which the fish plate - comprising whitebait, salt and pepper squid, homemade mackerel paté, marinated cockles, smoked salmon, crab bruschetta and sweet chilli tuna - is perhaps the most popular. This family-friendly pub also offers a separate menu for kids.

The Boater's, which had a stunning refurbishment in October 2013, is just as interested in quenching your thirst as it is satisfying your appetite - you're more than welcome here just for drinks. Local breweries such as Surrey Hills are used to procure a wide selection of beers, and the management carefully put together the ever-evolving wine list themselves.

Situated in Canbury Gardens, right on the banks of the Thames, The Boater's offers lovely riverside dining with views of the surrounding parkland. Guests can make the most of the scenery by dining alfresco in the huge garden, which even has its own outdoor bar. Look out for The Boaters' fantastic events; they're known to host great wine and cheese tasting evenings, summer barbecues and jazz nights
