Bibendum is a timeless establishment that's perfect for those who love the simple things in life - great food, drink and atmosphere are offered in spades here. Found on the first floor of Michelin House - Michelin's former headquarters - the restaurant's interior features impressive stained-glass windows, plush furnishings and carefully chosen art adorning the walls. This glamorous and elegant scene is the ideal backdrop to head chef Matthew Harris' refined French food with a strong British influence.

Our meal commenced with the finest Iberico ham and a bold salade Lyonnaise with fried calves' brains and warm pork rillettes. With intensely rich flavours combined with subtle and complementary accompanying ingredients, these opening dishes were a prime example of the culinary excellence to be found here. The quality reached a pinnacle with the superb pan-fried veal chop main, which was a beautifully tender, medium-rare masterpiece. The attention to detail was even apparent in the side salad, which featured skinned tomatoes; a sign of the kind of diligence that sets such a place an echelon above. Although we ordered from the extensive à la carte, a prix fixe menu is offered at lunchtime and on Sundays, when a three-course meal - with seven options available for each course - is available for £30.

With an additional oyster bar and café to visit alongside the restaurant and skilled service offered throughout, Bibendum is a place of absolute quality. I urge you to visit at the earliest opportunity
