271 Portobello Road, Notting Hill, London, W11 1LR
A gorgeous Parisian hideaway in the unlikely setting of Notting Hill, Goode & Wright is perched on Portobello Road, right opposite Portobello Square. The tiny 40-seater dining room, with wood panelling, chequered flooring and classic-style furnishings, runs under the watchful eye of the incongruously named French maître d', Jimmy Tardy. He's easily spotted gliding around the restaurant, with his flailing arms, tied-up hair, beard and earrings, wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

Scottish chef, Finlay Logan, is the other half of this unlikely but charismatic duo. You'll find him in the kitchen, marrying the best of British cuisine with artful French cooking techniques to produce the likes of roast buttermilk poussin with cheese-topped fries, and steak bavette with frites and roast marrowbones. Breakfast-time classics are served up with a twist - think eggs Benedict with duck egg cocotte inside a tall muffin - and if you pop along on a Sunday, you can sample one of Finlay's sell-out roasts.

Finlay and Jimmy have created a beautifully unique setting, with a laid-back and relaxing air. You can even say hello to the chef as he works, courtesy of the open-kitchen set up. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home as they are looked after thanks to friendly and polished service. Described as 'a French bistro with a British accent', Good & Wright is wonderfully triumphant in everything it aims to achieve
