Chinese and East Asian
Buddha-Bar London, winner of the Best Restaurant Bar for 2014, 2015 and 2016 in the Club & Bar Awards, is an elegant retreat from the busy streets of Knightsbridge. Set over two floors, the Oriental-influenced interior features a bronze mesh Buddha and curtains emblazoned with dragons and Swarovski crystals, which provide a spectacular backdrop for the equally stunning pan Asian cuisine.
Upon arrival, we were whisked away into the stylish restaurant where we took in our surroundings. We sampled a selection of dishes, kicking off with spicy mango, a delicious sushi-style dish of king crab and prawn tempura with a fiery mango sauce. Next, the delicate and crispy spicy tuna maki rolls and the crisp chilli-salted baby squid were a taste sensation. For me, the crispy whole duck with Royal Beluga caviar stole the show – the meat was succulent and contrasted beautifully with the sweetness of the homemade sauce. Our sides of noodles with organic mushrooms and fluffy steamed rice were delicious, too. Finishing with a selection of indulgent desserts – melt-in-the-middle chocolate fondant with green tea ice cream, chocolate caramel and salted sesame bar and homemade sorbets – we left feeling utterly satisfied.
The wine and cocktail menu is extensive and exciting, and knowledgeable staff are on-hand to pair the perfect tipple with your dishes. This isn’t just a venue for lunch and dinner, as afternoon tea is also served, and there’s a private dining room that can accommodate up to 70 guests. For something different, why not partake in a sushi and sake masterclass?
