Both pub and restaurant in equal measure, The Prince Bonaparte cuts a fine, alluring figure. Inside, the leather booth seating, vintage-style lampshades and exposed-brick walls on which an assortment of old framed photographs hang, give this establishment unique character and charm.

The clientele is suitably diverse, making for a fun and vibrant atmosphere. The well-stocked bar will keep everyone happy when it comes to liquid refreshments, offering a handful of well-kept real ales and a wine list that has every base covered. The food menu leans towards British tradition, but takes inspiration from the rest of Europe too. With dishes compiled of ingredients from nearby farms, the menu is fresh and has something for all.

There's plenty for vegetarians, but my own pescatarian preferences were indulged with a beautiful sea bass stuffed with lemon and herbs and shown the grill - perfection. Next up was a carefully considered stone-baked green tomato tart with smoked aubergine purée and a rather wonderful slow-cooked Gloucester Old Spot pork belly with apple and Cornish-cider glaze. All meat is traceable and sourced within the UK; fish too is from Blighty and sustainable stocks. As there happens to be a fully trained pastry chef at the kitchen's helm, there is no excuse for skipping dessert. Our pear and almond frangipane tart satisfied and delighted, concluding our evening at this West London treasure
