55 Baring Street, Islington, London, N1 3DS

The Poet is a stylish bar that sits in the heart of Islington. Just a stone’s throw from Shoreditch Park, The Poet boasts a convenient location and is a popular spot with friends meeting for after-work drinks or a relaxed weekend meal. From Old Street, you can also take the 271 bus route.

The food menu comprises a wide selection of tasty dishes. Small plates are perfect for a starter, or for a tasty snack: try the honey and mustard cocktail sausages, the gooey halloumi fries or opt for the barbecue chicken wings with tangy blue cheese mayonnaise. For something heartier, why not order a burger? There’s a succulent beefburger, a cajun chicken burger and tasty vegetarian burgers to choose from, while other mains include Cumberland sausages with mashed potato, ale-battered haddock and chips, and the amazing Sunday roast is always a hit.

The drinks list at The Poet is similarly varied: guests are offered bottles of wine sourced from all over the world as well as local beer, a huge array of gin, and various tempting cocktails. On a summer’s day, you could order a jug of Pimm’s to share with your party. For those stopping by on a Friday, there’s a popular live music night and on Thursdays guests can participate in a friendly quiz night.
