Dubbed by fans as a 'gastronomic treasure', winner of the North African category in Ramsay's Best Restaurant in 2010 and laying claim to a Bib Gourmand in 2012, Azou is a firm favourite for Hammersmith residents with a taste for the exotic - and well worth a trip if you're visiting London.

An unassuming facade hides the interesting interior, with tented ceiling and Moroccan lanterns, where friendly and attentive staff tend to your needs. It's the freshly cooked and well sourced ingredients that make each dish - from traditional Moroccan to Azou's own speciality cuisine - an explosion of flavours. Try a tagine, such as tender lamb in a spicy chilli sauce with potatoes, or perhaps traditionally steamed couscous served with merguez, lamb, chicken, fish or vegetables, before embarking on a traditional North African dessert. Delicious layers of honey and almond is the perfect end to a meal especially if you team your baklava with an espresso with a scoop of ice cream.
