The historic Ship, a prominent feature of Romford's main street, is believed to date as far back as the 17th Century. Despite its age, this Grade II listed building has maintained much of its original charm and character and rustic wooden beams still adorn the ceilings of this traditional pub. The menu features the kind of homely food you'd expect from such a charming inn, and the dishes reflect the pub's rustic feel. Starters include the chef's homemade soup, potato skins and whitebait with paprika mayonnaise, while for your main course you can treat yourself to the likes of juicy gammon steak with pineapple, hand-cut chips and garden peas or The Ship's signature homemadbeef burger. If you're looking for something sweet to finish, check the specials board for the desserts of the day. At lunchtime, well-filled sandwiches are available - the chicken club is a particular favourite, packed with chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomato - and on Sundays you can't beat The Ship's hearty roast, served with crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and, of course, a helping of rich gravy. The bar is stocked with plenty of cask ales and wines, which can be enjoyed in the large beer garden in the summer months
