187 Stoke Newington High Street, Stoke Newington, North East London, N16 0LH
Though the area of Stoke Newington may seem a little ordinary, this treasure of a Thai restaurant certainly isn't. The new restaurant is housed in a stunning grade-II-listed Georgian building that's far superior to the previous Yum Yum Thai venue on Church Street, in terms of space and design. The restaurant boasts a number of different dining spaces, from a traditional Thai house to a more conventional dining room, outside seating and even a sunken area that provides a more authentic - and entertaining - Thai experience. The decor itself is elegant with low lighting and a stylish yet traditional Asian theme.

As for the cuisine, it certainly doesn't disappoint, bringing you the delicate aromas and distinctive flavours and textures unique to the Thailand experience. The menu is extensive, with a range of soups, salads and curries, plus meat, rice, noodle and veggie dishes on offer. Why not begin with a starter of lok chin tod (balls of chicken fillets marinated with Thai herbs and shallow fried, served with a plum sauce); or a warming tom khar (hot and sour soup with mixed seafood and lemongrass). The delicious mains include favourites such as Thai red curry, as well as unfamiliar dishes just waiting to be sampled, like neau pad prik Thai onn (stir-fried beef with chilli, garlic and fresh peppercorns); or pad ke-mao (stir-fried flat rice noodles with Thai herbs, holy basil leaves, chilli, vegetables and egg). If you have room, don't miss out on one of Yum Yum Thai's divine desserts - the Thai coconut roll, a warm coconut-filled pancake served with coconut ice cream and honey, is delicious. As Thailand is a little too far to go to stock up on fresh, authentic ingredients, Yum Yum ensures that its customers get the next best thing - all of the ingredients are locally sourced for a beautifully fresh taste.

Yum Yum Thai is renowned for its cocktails, including the Japanese Cherry, a luscious concoction of sour cherry pieces, gin, muddled berries, vanilla essence, fresh lemon and sugar. If these don't take your fancy there's a large wine cellar with an expertly chosen selection. Fabulous Thai food complemented by excellent beverages, impressive surroundings and impeccable service - what more could you ask for?
