Whether or not you're visiting Greenwich's National Maritime Museum, it's well worth heading to The Brasserie for a bite to eat. The floor-to-ceiling windows afford impressive views over Nelson's Ship in a Bottle sculpture and beautiful Greenwich Park.

The cuisine is contemporary British in style and the menu changes according to the seasons, while ingredients are always fresh and locally sourced as far as possible. We began our meal with Cosmopolitan cocktails, before tucking into appetisers of smoked salmon and pork belly. The dishes were packed with flavour and beautifully presented, as well as being the perfect size to whet our appetites without spoiling what was to come. My main was a deliciously tender beef fillet, served with herby mashed potato. My companion enjoyed the chicken and we shared a side of sautéed spinach. The food here is classic but expertly executed - each dish we tried was cooked simply, allowing the fresh ingredients to shine.

Having so enjoyed the food, we were pleased to be equally impressed with the stand-out service from the team at The Brasserie. Both our waitress and the bartender were friendly and attentive, and made confident recommendations to suit our tastes. The Brasserie is now on our list of favourite places to eat in the capital - we can't wait to return
