The Old Fire Station is two venues rolled into one - on the ground floor you'll find the modern, friendly bar, which serves an array of cocktails, wines, beers and light bites, while upstairs houses Atash Restaurant, a contemporary restaurant offering delicious Persian and European fare. We decided to see what Atash had to offer. To begin, we simply had to sample the meze, which included five hot and cold starters. Our favourites were a well-formed salad olivieh (a medley of chicken, potato and gherkin) and the kashk-e bademjan, a scrumptious marriage of sautéed aubergine, walnuts, whey and mint. For mains, we enjoyed succulent skewers of saffron-marinated chicken - morgh kebabs - and tender lamb kebab. Dessert had to be the super-sweet zulbia bamieh - moreish fried syrup-coated rings of dough. There is a function room available to hire for parties, with hot and cold buffets available on request. Those looking for a good night out should visit on a Friday or Saturday evening, when the DJ hits the decks
